Therapy for Individuals
There are many reasons why people reach out to a therapist. Some of the common issues my clients reach out are for anxiety, depression, loneliness, life transitions and an awareness that they are coping in ways that are hurtful to themselves and their relationships.
I was drawn to this field because I love people and relationship and I believe (and research supports me in this!) that our relationship is the most important aspect of our work together. In addition to a good relationship, the next dynamic is gaining insight. You cannot change what you cannot name and so you can expect our work together to be a time of learning more about where the pain or feelings of being stuck came from. Although insight is necessary, it is not able to change us without learning new patterns. The final aspect of our work together will be in learning new skills and new ways of being in relationship with yourself and others.
Therapy For Couples
Romantic relationships have the potential to allow us to experience life in a rich and intimate way while also hold the potential for great pain. Often times, we find ourselves stuck in patterns that we are unsure of how to change. As a marriage and family therapist, I am trained to understand people within the context of their relationships and guide them on a path to more meaningful connection.
In my work with couples, along with building a strong alliance, I help my clients untangle the patterns that have caused disconnection in their current relationship. Through the understanding of these patterns, my clients gain the power to heal, grow and create a different type of future for themselves and their partner.
